Pack and Play

They all said it would happen one day. “He’s going to fall off the bed or the couch. It happens to all babies, so don’t feel bad when it happens,” cousins and siblings all forewarned. And for six whole months we were proving everyone wrong.

Until about two weeks ago.

We were at my mother-in-law’s house for a baby shower when he needed to nap. He wasn’t very mobile yet (or so we thought) so we just placed him on a bed, and like protocol, closed the door and let him fall asleep on his own. He was talking to himself for a few minutes when it escalated to crying. “Oh, just give him a few more minutes,” his dad and I reassured passersby. A few minutes later, his dad peeks in to find him off the bed and crying on the floor! My poor baby.

Since then we bought him a Pack and Play. We were able to test-drive it yesterday when I visited my mom for her birthday. I was apprehensive since he not only hasn’t slept in it, but was in a different environment than he’s used to. But after fifteen minutes, he actually fell asleep! I even peeked in and saw him sleeping on his tummy, with his head nuzzled against the edge. So cute!

At least now we won’t have to worry about him falling off beds.
